Zodiac colors are symbolic design associations, not a universal set of official color codes. In this guide, ColorIndicator gives each of the 12 signs an original lead color, an accent and two useful neutrals. You can copy the HEX values for moodboards, personal graphics, outfits or interior inspiration without calculating an entire birth chart.

The color names and exact values below are our editorial choices. They are not Pantone standards, a promise of good luck or a test of which colors suit your appearance.

Every sign study uses two shared neutrals: Paper #F6F3ED and Ink #202530. The lead and accent change; the neutrals give you a practical surface and text option. A four-color sign study is not the same as a four-placement birth chart palette.

How we chose these zodiac colors

We used the four elements of Western astrology as a loose creative organizing theme: fire includes Aries, Leo and Sagittarius; earth includes Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn; air includes Gemini, Libra and Aquarius; water includes Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. These groupings belong to the tradition. The exact HEX choices do not come from it. [S9]

Our design interpretation uses intensity for some fire palettes, material-inspired hues for earth, open or contrasting colors for air and layered blue, green or plum tones for water. We did not make every fire sign red or every water sign blue: that would flatten the collection into four repeated designs.

For consistency with the Big 3 + Venus lookup, each sign's lead uses its Sun-column color and its accent uses its Venus-column color. That is a rule within our collection, not a claim that your Venus sign must match your Sun sign.

Aries colors: vermilion and rose

Signal Vermilion #D94C3D leads this palette, with Rose Heat #D97886 as the accent. We chose a direct red-orange and softened its surrounding context with rose and Paper. Ink supplies an anchor when a layout needs more structure.

Try a vermilion title block on a Paper background, with a small rose border or illustration. For an outfit board, keep vermilion as one focal item rather than assigning equal weight to every color. This is our energetic Aries interpretation, not an instruction that everyone with an Aries placement should wear red.

Taurus colors: orchard green and clay

Orchard Green #3E6B50 meets Clay Satin #C99A7E in a material-led palette. The green is substantial rather than electric, while the clay accent introduces warmth without turning the whole composition orange.

Use it for a botanical notebook cover, a café moodboard or an earthy personal portfolio. Let Paper occupy the largest area; use green to structure the page and clay for smaller highlights. Pair the colors with linen, timber or matte ceramics in inspiration boards, but check real material samples rather than expecting a HEX value to reproduce a surface exactly.

Gemini colors: marigold and orchid

Marigold Note #E3B84B and Orchid Ribbon #D79ABB create a light, contrasting direction. The gold-yellow is the lead; the pink-lilac supplies a second voice without requiring another loud primary color.

This is a useful starting point for playful editorial cards, workshop graphics or a personal newsletter cover. Keep information on the Paper/Ink pair, then let the two expressive colors mark sections or illustrations. Avoid layering small yellow and pink text over each other merely because they appear together in the palette. Decorative contrast and readable text are different design questions.

Cancer colors: pearl blue and shell rose

Pearl Mist #C9D8E5 and Shell Rose #E5B9BF give this sign study a pale, soft-edged direction. We chose a cool blue-gray and a warmer rose so the composition has a temperature shift even though both are light.

Try broad blocks of Pearl Mist, shell-colored details and Ink for the words. The palette suits a personal stationery set, a memory-board layout or a gentle room-inspiration collage. Because the two expressive colors are both pale, they should not be expected to separate tiny text from its background. The neutral Ink is functional, not an afterthought.

Leo colors: amber and velvet coral

Amber Stage #DF9036 leads, while Velvet Coral #C85D78 adds a richer red-pink accent. Paper creates breathing room and Ink keeps the composition from becoming an uninterrupted field of warm color.

For a personal event poster, start with an amber panel, a coral graphic detail and a generous Paper margin. For an outfit moodboard, amber can become a small warm accessory rather than a head-to-toe instruction. Our Leo direction is deliberately expressive, but the layout should still give the important information room to stand out.

Virgo colors: herb green and oat

Herb Ledger #82936A pairs with Oat Silk #C6B08B. Both are muted, but the green/brown distinction gives them separate jobs. Paper is the light base; Ink makes fine lines and small labels easier to handle.

Try the combination for a reading journal, a plant-label system or an understated project board. Use the herb green for large supporting areas and oat for tabs or secondary panels. Fine green text on oat is not automatically readable, so keep body copy on a tested neutral pair. We interpret Virgo through material restraint here, not through claims about a reader's temperament.

Libra colors: gallery rose and deeper pink

Gallery Rose #CE8EA6 and Rose Atelier #C9738F create a close family rather than an opposite-color scheme. Their similarity is the point: the palette can feel cohesive without needing a perfectly symmetrical composition.

Use one rose as a broad field and the other as a decorative detail, with Paper and Ink doing the harder information work. Try a personal portfolio cover, an invitation or a fashion moodboard. Because the two roses are related, give them enough scale or separation to remain distinguishable; do not use their difference alone to communicate something essential.

Scorpio colors: mulberry and garnet

Mulberry Seal #793B50 and Garnet Bloom #AA4B61 make a dark, wine-colored direction. We chose depth rather than pure black as the lead, then introduced a brighter red-rose accent so the palette can carry detail.

Try mulberry for a cover or large panel, Paper for surrounding space and garnet for a stamp-like graphic. A bookish personal brand or an evening invitation can use this mood without adopting horror imagery. Keep body copy on a tested surface; adding Ink to an already dark mulberry field will not necessarily give the contrast you need.

Sagittarius colors: violet and copper

Violet Horizon #8053A6 meets Copper Journey #CE8862. The violet/copper relationship makes this study feel more expansive than a single-hue palette while avoiding a fully saturated rainbow.

Try violet as the main graphic field on a travel journal or a creative portfolio cover, with copper as a small navigational accent. Use Paper for captions and Ink for longer reading passages. A small amount of copper can carry the contrast in mood; you do not have to balance the two colors by area. The result is a creative travel-inspired direction, not a claim about anyone's future.

Capricorn colors: graphite and walnut

Graphite Structure #626870 and Walnut Suede #99816B bring a cool/warm material contrast into a restrained palette. The gray is not a substitute for black; the brown is not simply filler. Each can help define a different surface or section.

Use the pair in a professional notebook, a product-specification moodboard or a personal site concept. Let Paper carry the longer text and reserve Graphite for larger structures. Walnut can appear in small borders, photography or material references. The palette is quiet, but it still needs measured contrast rather than an assumption that every neutral works with every other neutral.

Aquarius colors: current blue and digital iris

Current Blue #358FAD and Digital Iris #8C80C0 bring blue-teal and muted violet into the same composition. Paper prevents the pair from feeling overly dense, while Ink supports labels and controls.

Try a speculative product poster, a creative coding moodboard or a personal technology portfolio. Use one expressive color for a broad visual field and the other for a small highlight. Do not turn the symbolic association into a blanket “technology brands should use blue” rule: the intended audience and actual content still determine whether the direction is right for the project.

Pisces colors: lagoon and lilac

Lagoon Reverie #6CACAE and Lilac Dream #B5A0CC combine muted aqua with a soft purple. The goal is a layered, gentle direction rather than a literal picture of water or a sky filled with zodiac symbols.

Use broad color areas for a wallpaper, a poetry card or an art-journal spread. Keep Ink text on Paper when readability matters, and let lagoon and lilac handle the visual atmosphere. In a room moodboard, treat these as references for samples and textures. You are choosing an aesthetic, not discovering a required color for your home.

Turn any sign palette into a usable design

First, choose a surface. A Paper-led composition will feel different from an Ink-led one even when the accent colors stay the same. Then choose one of the two expressive colors to lead; use the other sparingly. You do not need an exact ratio to establish hierarchy.

Next, check the actual text/background pair. Ink #202530 on Paper #F6F3ED measures 13.85:1 using the WCAG sRGB contrast formula. This pair exceeds the AA normal-text threshold of 4.5:1, but that result does not certify every other pair or the whole design. [S10]

Keep a swatch's label outside the colored area when that gives you a cleaner result. If the label sits inside it, test that foreground/background combination separately. Use Contrast Checker, and refer to Color Theory Basics for the difference between hue relationships, visual hierarchy and readability.

Want more than your Sun sign?

These are single-sign studies. A birth chart palette takes different inputs for Sun, Moon, Rising and Venus, so its four colors may come from four different sign rows. Our Big 3 + Venus guide contains the full 48-color lookup and worked combinations.

If you arrived through the “Pantone birth chart” search trend, read what that format actually means. It is useful to understand the difference between a personal moodboard, a digital color specification and an official color reference before sharing the result.

Frequently asked questions

What are the colors for each zodiac sign?

Different creators use different associations. This guide presents ColorIndicator's own 12 design palettes, with a lead and accent for each sign plus shared light and dark neutrals. The table above is the quick reference for this collection.

Is there an official zodiac HEX code for every sign?

This guide does not treat any HEX value as a universal astrological standard. Our exact values are curated design choices. A different collection may use a different red, green or blue for the same sign.

Are zodiac colors the same as lucky colors?

Not in this collection. We do not claim that choosing a shade changes your luck, wealth or future. Use the palettes for creative expression and practical design experiments.

Can I use a palette that belongs to another sign?

Absolutely. The signs organize the collection; they do not restrict your choices. Use whichever palette supports your project, taste and readability needs.

Does my Rising sign have a different color?

In our placement lookup, yes: each sign has separate Sun, Moon, Rising and Venus entries. The four-color sign studies on this page are different—they combine a lead, an accent and two neutrals for general design use.

Will these colors suit my skin tone?

A zodiac label cannot establish that. These palettes do not evaluate your appearance. For clothing, try the colors in the lighting and materials you will actually wear rather than treating the chart as a personal color-analysis result.

How can I try these colors today?

Copy a HEX value into the Color Picker, put the palette into a moodboard and test important text pairs in Contrast Checker. You can also browse the Palette Library for other directions.

Your sign can be the starting point, not the limit

Choose a palette, make something small and adjust what does not work. The useful outcome is not finding a color you are obliged to like. It is discovering a combination you would enjoy using.

All color names, mappings and sign-study combinations here are original ColorIndicator editorial material. The collection is for design inspiration and symbolic exploration, not personality assessment, prediction or official Pantone matching.
